Paul, an early Christian leader, wrote to the church in Colossae (an
ancient city in modern-day Turkey): "the gospel, the word of truth, is
bearing fruit and growing throughout the world" (Colossians 1:6).
Columbia, Missouri is one little patch of God's planting and Christ Our King
Presbyterian Church is one small row in that garden. In other places on
this large globe, God is harvesting the good news of Jesus Christ. One
such place is in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. In that major metropolitan city of
nearly a million people, City Presbyterian Church is faithfully giving
witness to the hope of the resurrection. Zimbabwe is a country plagued
by social and political unrest, economic collapse (as of this writing, a
400 percent inflation rate) and a widespread AIDS epidemic (25 percent
infection rate). And yet, in the shadow of a darkening cloud, the
Christians in Bulawayo persist in faith, believing they will "see the
goodness of the Lord in the land of the living" (Psalm 73).

We here at Christ Our King are partnering with the saints in Bulawayo to
work the fields of harvest in their native land. City Presbyterian is
planting churches, equipping pastors, training college students, feeding
the poor, pursuing social justice and gathering each Lord's Day to
worship God. Money received for Project Zimbabwe is spent entirely in
Zimbabwe to support pastors and students, supply food for the needy and
to furnish educational curriculum as requested by City Presbyterian.
Pastor Tamerius recently traveled to
Zimbabwe to minister in various settings on behalf of City
Presbyterian. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry
to Zimbabwe and/or providing financial support to further the ministry
of City Presbyterian Church, please contact our Project Coordinator at
