The Way of a Pilgrim

The Bible is a field guide for life in God’s world. It gives us our orientation to the experience of being human, naming the landmarks along the way – sin, grace, love, suffering – and helping us locate the presence of God’s Spirit in the routines of daily life. For the next little while, we are going to journey together in the land of the Holy Scriptures, meeting the men and women who have gone before us and listening as they speak of encountering the Divine Presence. Beginning at “In the beginning God…” and continuing until the final “Amen” -- from creation to consummation -- Pastors Smith and Tamerius will retell the grand story of God’s self-disclosure to us. Each week we will see new territory, listening in as these ancient travelers - sages and poets, saints and sinners -- map out the geography of the soul. And we will listen to our own lives as well, making fresh discoveries of grace and redemption along the way of following Jesus.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

-- T.S. Eliot, “Four Quartets”
