Our History
Christ Our King Presbyterian Church started in September 1999
as an unaffiliated, Reformed congregation. In November 2001
our congregation joined with the
Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Our Purpose
Christ Our King is a church called together by God to reflect to the world God's incomparable glory, beauty, goodness and truth. As an expression of that vocation, we are committed to worshiping God in the beauty of His holiness, building up one another in love and embodying the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.
Our church charter statement builds on the foundation of the Apostles' Creed to reflect our priorities as a congregation:
We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
Because God is our Father, we pledge to live together as His children, brothers and sisters adopted by grace into His family.
Because God is all-powerful, we pledge to live by the strength that He supplies and to trust that He is able to do exceedingly more than we can ask or imagine.
Because God is our Creator, we pledge to live in dependence upon Him and to live responsibly, creatively and obediently in reflecting His glory.
As a church, our primary aim will be to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Our passion will be to know God as He makes Himself known to us.
We believe in Jesus Christ, His Only Son our Lord.
Because Jesus live the perfect human response to God, we will walk in His way by seeking first the kingdom.
Because Jesus suffered on the cross for our salvation, we will live as those who have been rescued and redeemed from the power and powers of evil.
Because Jesus rose from the dead, we will live in the hope that we will reign with Him.
As a church, we will live as one body with Christ as our Head. We will model forgiveness, charity, justice, peace and truth in obedience to the way of our Lord.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life.
Because the Spirit equips us for ministry, we will serve one another with the gifts we each have been given.
Because the Spirit produces in us fruit expressing the character of God, we will walk together in the power of the Spirit.
Because the Spirit unifies us in the bond of peace, we will promote such unity by pursuing humility, gentleness, patience and love.
As a church, we will earnestly pray for the Spirit's work of renewal in ou rlives.
We believe in the holy, catholic Church, the communion of saints.
Because the Church is holy, we will not disparage or demean those who belong to her, rather, we will confess our sins, pray for forgiveness and seek to live honorably as the people of God. In faith, we will affirm that the Church belongs to God and that she is beautiful, choice and precious in His eyes.
Because the Church is catholic, we will pursue a global vision for the glory of God. We will remember the saints who have gone before us, commune with the saints presently with us, and labor for those who will follow after us.
As a church, we will advance Christ's kingdom through worship and mission - in our homes, in our communities and in our world.
May His favor rest upon us.
