Travis Tamerius

Pastor Travis Tamerius grew up along the banks of the mighty Mississippi in America's hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. After spending his childhood impersonating Tom Sawyer, on stage and in real life, he left for college to study at the University of Missouri-Columbia. While at Mizzou, he earned degrees in History and Religious Studies. During that time, he was also actively involved in the ministry of Christian Campus House, both as a student and upon graduation as an intern campus minister. Travis earned a master's degree from Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia where he was blessed to study under J. I. Packer, Eugene Peterson, Gordon Fee, and Bruce Waltke. Prior to planting Christ Our King Presbyterian Church, Travis also served as an associate pastor for four years at Grace Bible Church in Columbia.

Presently, Pastor Tamerius is involved with Act 3 (formerly Reformation and Revival Ministries) as an associate editor of its theological journal. He also serves part time as Director of the Office of Faith and Service at William Woods University. In his spare time, he enjoys many of God's glory-filled "dappled things": the bleacher seats at Busch Stadium; the pop of the pads at a Friday night football game; Les Bourgeois Riverboat Red wine; autumn bike rides on the Katy Trail; the crackle of snare drums in the Homecoming Parade; the smell of old library books; and washing dishes to the rhythm of a good backbeat. Some of his writings can be found on this website under our resources link.

Thom Smith

After serving long pastorates in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and more recently, Charleston, West Virginia, Thom Smith returned to the landscape of his childhood when he moved to the Midwest in 2007 to join the ministry of Christ Our King. A gifted storyteller of the faith, Thom has traveled throughout the world to share of God’s desire to have a human family of sons and daughters. He is widely appreciated for his pastoral heart, keen mind and warmth of personality.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Thom is an accomplished artist whose work has been recognized with several outstanding awards of distinction. His art encompasses a range of mediums, including painting, sketching, sculpting and woodworking.

In addition to dressing up the world with words and splashes of color, Thom enjoys searching for buried treasure at local flea markets, making music on his guitar, smoking a pipe in his front porch rocking chair and cooking a sumptuous feast for family and friends.

He and his wife Kathy, a teacher, are the proud parents of three grown children: Martyn, Emily and Evan.
