Columbia Art League is presenting its Annual Members' Show, "featuring artworks in all mediums by CAL's multifariously [a.k.a.:"diversely" ... for others also vocab-challenged!] talented artists. Artists may submit up to 2 artworks ... for this unjuried but awarded show." (quoted excerpt from CAL postcard)

Thom Smith has entered two of his works, "Nativity" and "Still Life" in this show the Art League has headlined, "Give a Gift of Art", which began December 2nd and runs through January 10th. Thom's "Nativity" is especially timely during this Advent season!

The location of the Art League is 207 S 9th St, just south of the Missouri Symphony Theater with its easily visible marquee. For additional info, phone 443-8838 or access their website at www.cal.missouri.org.

Hours available during this Christmas Season vary a tad from the norm, which is:
Tuesday through Friday: 11:30am to 5:30pm
Saturday: 11am to 5pm

Christmas Season additional hours are:
Sunday, Dec 21st - 11am to 3pm
Monday, Dec 22nd - 11:30am to 5:30pm

An added note to Christ Our King folks: Congratulations to Pastor Thom, whose "God in a Box" work was selected as the central feature on a large Art League postcard announcement of this "Give a Gift of Art" show. Also, a good number of these postcards can be found on our church's back table Sunday morning, so be sure to help yourself to the cards, and be able to share the news visibly with any friends or coworkers who might be interested. FRI, Dec 5, 6pm – ANNUAL CHRIST OUR KING CHRISTMAS PARTY … This year we will be celebrating together with a Christmas Progressive Dinner, Ornament Exchange and Caroling Extravaganza. SAT, Dec 6, 3pm – KIDS OF THE KING CHRISTMAS PARTY for ages 5 + up. There’ll be games, crafts, a ministry project, some snacks, and a surprise treat where the kids get to … well … first things first: This will be a very structured event, fast-paced, interactive, and fun. SAT, Dec 13, 9-11am – LADIES’ CHRISTMAS COOKIE EXCHANGE. Ladies, please bake and bring 2-3 dozen of your favorite Christmas cookies or candies to share as we fellowship.
