New Sunday School Class

It’s here! This Sunday we begin a new class and make a few changes to our morning schedule. To start with, let me tell you about the class. Our theme is Wisdom for a Changing World and over the course of the school year, a number of teachers will address important themes which I think you will find quite helpful. We have come up with a broad range of topics that explore what it means to live lives that are characterized by wisdom, integrity, fullness and beauty. We will survey the landscape of our present moment in history and how Christians can live intelligently at such a time and place. Some of the topics we have selected include: Trusting God in an Age of Anxiety; The Wisdom of Simplicity in a Complicated World; Learning How to Dance, or, The Christian Life as a Feast; Lasting Friendships in a Disposable Society; Making Ends Meet in a Tough Economy; The Gift of Disillusionment: Learning from our Disappointments; Understanding Globalization and many others. Think of this as a spiritual tailgate party: if you show up, you will not leave hungry.

Speaking of food, we have changed our schedule to accommodate our appetite for food and fellowship. Happily, our church is fond of informal, “paracletic”conversation. So we will have some light breakfast treats (muffins, bagels, fruit, etc.) available at 8:30 and will begin our Sunday School class at 8:45. This will allow us a solid, hour of instruction and discussion as well as sufficient time to transition to our worship service which will begin at 10 am.

For a number of weeks now, I’ve been eager for this Sunday to get here. I’m excited to learn from the various teachers as they speak on their assigned topics. I’m confident you will find their insights and our discussion beneficial for your walk of faith.

This Sunday, we hope you will awaken the dawn with us as we seek out God’s wisdom.
