Whenever you miss a service and would like to hear the sermon on tape, remember that we have forms on the back table for requesting a copy or copies of prior sermons. Please the competed request form in the offering bag -- or give it to one of the elders or deacons -- and we'll have the tape or tapes for you by the next service.

Bonhoeffer Movie

A highly acclaimed film is coming to Columbia next week. Bonhoeffer will show at the Ragtag Cinema next Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Showtimes and directions can be found on the Ragtag's website:

Bonhoeffer's story is a compelling one. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German pastor/theologian who gave extraordinary witness to the cost of following Jesus. He died at the hands of the Nazi regime after plotting to assassinate Hitler. At a time when many in the church looked the other way to Hitler's horrific evil, Bonhoeffer remained faithful to the cause of Christ.

Richard Swinburne at Washington University

This Thursday at Washington University in St. Louis:

Richard Swinburne, Emeritus Nolloth Professor of the Philosophy of the Christian Religion, University of Oxford and author of The Resurrection of God Incarnate (Clarendon Press, Oxford, 2003) and Epistemic Justification (Clarendon Press, Oxford, 2001) and one of the most famous religious philosophers alive today, will be addressing the topic "Why God Exists." Professor Swinburne will be speaking on November 13, 2003 at 4:30pm in Graham Chapel.

Christmas Is Coming ...

'Tis a grand way to hear The Story ... from the Author's own Words!

The Columbia Chorale will present Handel's "Messiah" Saturday, December 13, at the Missouri United Methodist Church, 204 S Ninth St, Columbia. (Time is yet to be announced.)

This will be the Chorale's first performance of their 2003-04 season. Formerly known as the Columbia Choral Ensemble, and now under the direction of Brazil native Alex Innecco, they plan additional concerts in March and April.
