Women's Ministry
At one time or another, a Christian woman has looked into the mirror
of Proverbs 31 to see if she can recognize herself there. The excellent
woman described in that chapter is lavishly dressed in strength and
dignity. She is up before dawn preparing for a busy day of feeding the
family, making clothes for her children, buying real estate, selling her
goods in the marketplace and practicing charity. She is confidently
smiling about the future.
Much has changed since these words were
written. The lightbulb has replaced the oil lamp. Telephones have
replaced the local water well. Gymboree and Target have replaced the
weaver’s loom. But God’s high calling for a woman remains: "the woman
who fears the Lord shall be praised" (Proverbs 31:30). At Christ Our
King we believe that women need the friendship of other Christian women
to fulfill that calling. Women need encouragement from other women to
grow as followers of Jesus. To that end, the women of our church come
together for a variety of events throughout the year. We meet together
to pray, study the Scriptures, watch movies, go on a retreat, learn from
one another and use our gifts to serve others. We hope you will join us
for the journey.
