Our hymns are from the Trinity Hymnal (Revised Edition). Many are also found in the Cyber Hymnal.

Preparation for Worship: Psalm 1
Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
The Season of Pentecost symbolizes a new beginning. It announces the work of God’s Spirit in renewing creation, giving us gifts and bearing witness to Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.

God Welcomes Us into His Presence

Call to Worship

This is the day that you have made, Lord.
Help us to rejoice in it and be glad!
Remind us of the privileges we enjoy as your people:
to come to you in these moments,
to confess our sins,
to receive forgiveness and give it,
to pray and sing and listen,
to renew our fainting spirits,
to rest in all your promises.
Open our eyes to see you, Lord.
Open our ears to hear your Word.
Visit us through your Holy Spirit,
and help us to celebrate our faith. Amen.

We Greet One Another in Christ

He is risen!
He is risen indeed!
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up unto the Lord!
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Scripture Reading: Hosea 1:2--2:1

This is the word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God!

God Cleanses Us in Christ

We Confess Our Need of God’s Grace:
“Come now, let us reason together,”
says the LORD.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”
—Isaiah 1:18

….silent prayer of confession…

Gracious God,
our sins are too heavy to carry,
too real to hide,
and too deep to undo.
Forgive what our lips tremble to name,
what our hearts can no longer bear,
and what has become for us
a consuming fire of judgment.
Set us free from a past that we cannot change;
open to us a future in which we can be changed;
and grant us grace
to grow more and more in your likeness and image;
through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

Declaration of Forgiveness:
Hear and believe the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

The Lord's Supper

The Lord's Supper is observed every Lord's Day as the climax of our worship service. We invite to the Lord's Table all those who are baptized disciples of Jesus Christ, under the authority of Christ and His body, the Church. By eating the bread and drinking the wine with us as a visitor, you are acknowledging to our church that you are in covenant with God. You also acknowledge that you are a sinner, without hope except in the sovereign mercy of God, and that you are trusting in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. If you have any doubts about your participation, please speak to the pastor or one of the elders after the service.
